How Planet Aid is Innovating for a More Sustainable Future

Annual Report 2024

In 2024, the textile reuse industry faced one of its toughest years yet. The cost of collecting donated clothes continued to climb, while the resale value of used garments dropped. For many, these challenges posed serious roadblocks—but at Planet Aid, they sparked innovation.

We didn’t back down. We doubled down—getting smarter, leaner, and more efficient.

Smart Investment, Real Impact

To tackle rising operational costs, we made strategic investments designed to improve efficiency and reduce our environmental footprint:

  • New baling equipment in Ohio to streamline processing

  • Fuel-efficient step vans to cut transportation and maintenance expenses

  • Solar-powered donation centers equipped with lighting and video monitoring to boost safety and enhance collection efficiency

These upgrades aren’t just about logistics—they’re about creating a more resilient, responsible donation system.

Supporting Communities at Home and Abroad

With a staff of over 220 and eight regional facilities, Planet Aid proudly partners with thousands of schools, businesses, shopping centers, municipalities, and places of worship. Together, we’re helping communities reduce waste and raise funds for causes that matter.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our partners, here’s what we accomplished in 2024:

  • Collected over 67 million pounds of clothing and shoes across 15 states and Washington, D.C.

  • Provided nearly $500,000 to more than 300 U.S. nonprofits, charities, and schools

  • Raised $90,000 for 143 U.S. schools through fundraising partnerships

  • Delivered $2.7 million in unrestricted grant funding to locally led development programs around the world

These upgrades aren’t just about logistics—they’re about creating a more resilient, responsible donation system.
